Thanks to the EA Game Changers program I had the opportunity to play the new expansion pack The Sims 4 Cottage Living for about a week.
I only had Base Game and Cottage Living, and the software I had is not yet final, so there might be slight changes before release. We try to keep our reviews objective, so you can make your own decision, but any opinions in the review are our own.

Cross-stitching
There is one new skill in The Sims 4 Cottage Living, cross-stitching. It is a minor skill, so that means there are only 5 skill levels.
For the patterns, you can earn them several ways – by chatting to some villagers in town, doing errands for villagers, gifts from the animals, and leveling up in the skill. In total there are 64 different patterns. There are 3 different sizes for hoops (small, medium, large).
But if you are bored of those, you can also stitch from reference! Want to have cross stiches of your legacy Sims instead of portraits? Now you can!
Do note, though, that if you want to hang your Sims’ cross stitch creations up on their walls, there is an extra step: Click on the finished cross-stitch in your Sim’s inventory and choose “Create Wall Mounted Copy” as seen below. Then you can hang it on the wall.
Children and up can practice the cross-stitch skill. And for children they even build this skill directly, they don’t even have to finish one of their child skills first.
To practice cross-stitching, you need the “Make it sew cross-stitch kit” from BB. Luckily you don’t need to have it in your Sims inventory to use like you do with Nifty Knitting.
Of course they can cross-stitch on the toilet…because this is Sims.
Traits and aspiration
There are 2 new traits and 1 new aspiration
Animal enthusiast and Lactose intolerant are the traits
Country Caretaker aspiration, this aspiration basically walks you through the Expansion pack rather than being a life goal.
And there you have the skill, traits, and aspiration from Cottage Living!
