What is “Inspired Mode”? How do I get it? What are the advantages of it?
A Sim in inspired mode on The Sims Freeplay will have a green sparkle around them.

A Sim in inspired mode on The Sims Freeplay will have a green sparkle around them.

Inspired Mode occurs when your Sim’s need bars – hygiene, bladder, sleep, fun, social, and hunger – are all very full. When your Sim is in Inspired Mode, they will have a green sparkle around them. Sims in Inspired Mode earn 1.5 times as much XP and Simoleons from baking and planting.

Sometimes you will get an objective to get a Sim in Inspired Mode. If all your Sims already are in Inspired Mode, then you will usually need to wait for one of them to lose their green sparkle, then fulfil their needs again, to complete the objective.

How do I “fast-forward”?

Quick answer: you can’t. The Sims Freeplay isn’t like a normal Sims game. Unlike other Sims, these Sims work in real time. When you tap an object, the game tells you how long it will take to complete that action. That is how long it will take, and even changing the time on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch won’t help. As of 11th January, a glitch exists in the iPad version that you can use to cancel actions early – see our cheats guide if you want to know how to do this. Using this glitch you can finish planting, baking, working, or anything else immediately, and still get all the XP/Simoleons as if you’d finished it normally.

I accidentally set my Sim to do the wrong action, can I cancel it?

Oh, bad luck. The only guaranteed way to “cancel” an interaction is to spend LP to finish it immediately. But there is another way that might work. As of 11th January, a glitch exists in the iPad version that you can use to cancel actions early – see our cheats guide if you want to know how to do this.

Can my Sims have children?

Nope, sorry! There are no children, and no aging in The Sims Freeplay.

Can my Sims have a pet?

Currently there are only dogs in The Sims Freeplay. You start the game with a dog, and you can buy further dogs for LP once you have a pet store in your town.

What is the difference between XP and LP? How do I earn them?

XP is experience points, and you gain them for completing any action at all (even peeing yourself). When you earn certain amounts of XP, your player level increases, unlocking new plants, baking recipes, workplaces, businesses, and the ability to add more Sims. Your current level and a progress bar to the next level are displayed at the top of the screen.

When your player level increases, you will also get some rewards, which might include LP – Lifestyle Points. The other ways to earn LP, other than paying for them, are having your dog dig for treasure (when there is a random chance he will dig up LP), and completing goals. Goals won’t always give LP, but a lot of goals do, so the best way to earn LP is to complete as many goals as you can.

I have a goal to watch a movie at midnight but I can’t complete it, help!
Watching a movie at midnight Sims Freeplay

Make sure you time watching a movie to finish between midnight and 1am to complete the "watch a movie at midnight" goal

To complete this goal, or any other time-based goals like doing Tai Chi at the park at 7pm, you need to finish the action (not start it) at the specified time. If there is a time range, eg. have a barbeque in the park between 8am and 12pm, then if you finish the action any time within that time range it should complete the goal. If, on the other hand, it says a specific time, then completing the action any time between that time and one hour later will complete the goal.

So for the “watch a movie at midnight” goal, start watching the movie early enough that you will complete the action between midnight and 1am. For the “do Tai Chi in the park at 7pm” goal, start doing Tai Chi (tap on your Sim to get the Tai Chi action) early enough to finish between 7 and 8pm. Then the most important part – you must go back to your Sim and see them complete the action at the right time. If you don’t check your Sim until the following morning, for example, the goal will not be complete.

If you missed the time you needed to do an action, you can change the time on your iOS device to have another go right away. See our cheats guide for more information.

How do I go to the park?

Good question! First, go to the town map view, and tap the park to zoom in there. Then, just open up the Sims panel by tapping the up arrow in the bottom left corner, and tap the whistle next to the Sim you want to go to the park. They’ll turn up right away, ready for whatever park-based activities you have for them!

I have a goal to buy a bench but I can’t do it!

Unfortunately this is a very poorly worded goal – they don’t mean a bench as in the outdoor garden bench, they mean a bench as in a kitchen work bench. So look in the kitchen section of the catalogue, and choose a counter to complete this goal.

There is a separate goal for buying an actual garden bench, which is worded slightly differently. This item is found by tapping the flower on the right in the buy menu.
