This Halloween, SimGuruSilver had the most fabulous Sims inspired costume. He dressed as Izzy from Izzy’s Fashion Shop in The Sims Mobile and his custome was spot on!
To make the character complete he even made Fashion Gems, the currency used in Izzy’s Fashion Shop.
Well hello, what have we here? pic.twitter.com/o1ClorpWVj

Thanks!!?
1) The costume itself was basically just an Amazon spree plus wig styling.
2) The Fashion Gems are dyed resin cast into custom molds from 3D prints and then placed into larger molds into which cold cast bronze resin is poured.
Happy to expand on either if interested…— Sterling (@SimGuruSilver) November 2, 2018
3D printing the positives for the molds isn’t super necessary here since it’s a pretty simple shape, it’s just a fun & easy way to get it exactly right.

Here you can see all the bits: I 3D printed positives of both the gem and the gem plus outer casing (top right), made molds of them (left), cast the gems (top middle), and then put them into the bigger molds for the next part… pic.twitter.com/9HJSWkozRM

I clamped the gems in place for the 2nd step because I was worried some brass resin might flow under. May not have been necessary, but did the trick. pic.twitter.com/wT6DYN7oLp

The nastiest part, in my opinion, is all the sanding & polishing. That arduous process was the reason I didn’t end up making these for everyone on the team… and the reason I actually made two designs: the flat gems are much easier to finish, but the faceted ones look best. pic.twitter.com/qygtfEFgU0
