The Sims 4 25th anniversary and updates

Written by Annabelli_22

Last week we had a pretty big announcement and update week.
The 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise is coming up on the 4th of February! I can’t believe we have been playing this game and all the Sims games around it for 25 years! Way to make us feel old Sims.

Update January 14th

Ok, so lets kick it off. The update The Sims 4 got last week has quite a few refreshes.
Right when you boot up your game, you’re greeted with a new home screen. It certainly is a big overhaul and I have to get used to the blue blue blue, but personally, I don’t hate it as much. It gives me Sims 2 load screen vibes with the house hold spotlight.
It’s just, soooo different that it’s quite an adjustment. I can totally understand if it’s too big of a change for you though. It seems the community is pretty divided.

Some base game houses in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs also got a refresh. The Goth house, the BFFs house, the Pancakes and a few others. 8 houses in total got a new look. With added pools, lounges and platforms. Those goodies we got somewhere along the way of the 10 year existence of The Sims 4.
These new houses will only show up in new saves. Your old saves will remain with the houses that were there. If you want the new houses in your old saves, the Sims team added the houses (both old and new) in your library, so you can place which ever version you would like.
Oh and if you happen to open an old save and the new houses show up on the world map, it can be just a visual glitch. This is what happened to me. When you enter the lot, the old house will still be there, and when you return to the world map after entering one of those lots, the map will be updated as well.

New Event weeks

A blast from the past is what the new event week is called. With some Sims 1 classics of the cake, inflatable furniture, some iconic floor tiles and more. Play The Sims 4 during the event weeks to collect them all for your game.

Update February 4th

There will be another update for the 25th anniversary, with 70+ new items added to the game. Both Create-a-Sim and Build-buy.

Anniversary 25 hours live stream

On Feburary 4th, The sims will be live streaming for 25 hours! To celebrate 25 years of The Sims.
What they will be doing exactly isn’t know yet, but this is what they say about it for now:

To kick off the birthday festivities, we’re hosting The Sims 25 Hour Livestream, featuring your favorite Simmers and some special guests you might recognize. Join the fun as we showcase The Sims’ impact over the last 25 years with top builders, storytellers and more on YouTube, Twitch and TikTok on February 4th, 2025 beginning at 2pm PT / 5pm ET!

2pm PT is 10m GMT by the way. So it’ll start later in the evening for us Europeans.

MySims: Cozy Bundle is coming to PC

After the launch of MySims: Cozy Bundle on the Nintendo Switch last November, MySims is coming to PC as well. The PC version will launch on March 18th!
