Base Game update – Feb 2026

Before every pack there is an update which often brings us new content that is related or used in the new pack.
And this update is no different. Below you can find all the new things added to the game with this update.

Flared stairs

Staircases have gotten a new update and a good one at that.
You can now flare staircases at the bottom and at the top.
Hold shift if you want to do only 1 side (left or right) when you pull on the arrows to flair it.

But not only can you flair the stairs, you can also adjust the railing. Want it on only 1 side? You got it, pick either left or right and the railing on the other side will disappear.
Want it to not go all the way to the top? Move the slider in the stair menu a little to the left.
Don’t want it to go to the bottom but stop midway? Move the slider a little to the right.

In base game, all stairs can have flared tops and bottoms, except for 1, Modern Floating Stairway can’t have a flared bottom.

You can create really cool unique and grand staircases this way.
Personally, I’m very happy with this update.
And although these features seem to work best on the new staircases in the pack, since they show more rounded flares in the trailers but they look pretty cool on base game stairs too.

Oh and a tip, you can’t flair stairs that are not full level stairs (so if they only do foundation). But if you still want it for your step up to the front door, just place the step elsewhere where it will be full height, add the flare as you wish, and then move the staircase to the front steps, or wherever you wanted them originally.

Family Tree

The Family tree has gotten an upgrade as well. There are now even more relationship labels.
In-laws, great grandparents, half siblings, step-relatives, adopted children are now labeled in your family tree (and social tab). For adopted children you can choose whether they show as adopted or not.

Mother In-Law, Father In-Law, Sister In-Law, Brother In-Law, Daughter In-Law, Son In-Law, Distant Relative In-Law, Distant Relative, Half-Sister, Half-Brother, Step-Mother, Step-Father, Step-Daughter, Step-Son, Great Grandmother, Great Grandfather, Great Grandson, Great Granddaughter, Parent’s Cousin, Cousin’s Child, Grand Niece, Grand Nephew, Grand Aunt, Grand Uncle, Ancestor, Descendant, and Relative In-law.
Divorced couples will now show as “ex-spouse” and a deceased spouse will now show as: Late spouse

CAS

New filter in Create-a-Sim, you can now select to filter on afro textured hairs and curly hair.
And a new style filter has been added: Africana. This makes it easier to find African inspired CAS items.

New nails have been added. 12 jewel tones and metallic almond shaped nails
