It’s time for some royal drama.
The Sims have officially announced the new The Sims 4 expansion pack.
The Sims 4 Royalty and Legacy
There is a trailer and a blog.
The trailer showcases what looks like 3 families. All with their own story line.
After you’ve watched the trailer, I’ve highlighted a few things I’ve noticed below.

Ondarion
The new world for this expansion pack is called Ondarion.
Therre are 3 neighbourhoods (regions) each seems to have a different architectural vibe. I’m curious to see how that will work in the total world view.
In this new world there are several palace inspired estates you can live at.
Nobility
Nobility is a career in The Sims 4. But it doesn’t seem like just a career, as you children or spouses can inherit titles.
The Noble Career has 10 levels, until you reach Monarch.
The royal throne of Ondarion is unclaimed.
Claiming the throne of a world, seems to not be exclusive to just Ondarion though, and supports cross-pack play. (Here I come, new kingdom of Windenburg!)
Each kingdom can however have only 1 true ruler.
Gossip system
What is a court, without some drama? The trailer shows a hint of a new gossip system that will spread the drama further and faster.
So better watch out what you’re doing if you don’t want your loved ones to find out.
stairs
As a builder, I always try to look for interesting things in the surroundings.
This time I noticed a grand staircase that has a single part going up, but then splits in 2.
Now, we could already do this with platforms, but what is interesting about it, is that you can see stair railing on the sides, but not the middle.
But not only that, the railing also seems to stop half way through instead all the way to the bottom.
And then there is the bottom part itself, it tapers. So it’s not a straight staircase.
These kind of build things are sometimes implemented in the patch leading up to a pack release instead of being part of the actual pack.
But that is just speculation, we don’t know yet if this will be a pack feature or base game feature.
If base game, will all stairs be able to do this?
It could also be a ‘item’, that you can place as a stairs, instead of the stair mechanism. Time will tell.
Secret passageways
With secret passageways you can teleport your Sims from 1 location to another. This can be on the same lot, but also to other lots across the world. This will make sneaking around to your secret spot or secret hangout a lot easier.
And even though they got found out in the trailer and blasted over the gossip system, it is also a new woohoo spot!
On the outside of the secret passageway, there is also a cuckoo clock. Be careful, because using it can also trigger the new death: Death by Cuckoo Malfuntion
Swordsmanship
What is royalty without some sword fighting?
Showcasing one being good at it, and another… not so good, Swordmanship is a new 10 level skill where you can dual for love and money, but also career opportunities and fight out rivalries.
Throughout every neighbourhood in Ondarion there will be Swordmanship tournaments at gazebos. A Goaled event where opponents will gather and players complete event tasks through duels.
