Supernatural Alchemy Guide

Alchemy skill is the biggest addition to the Supernatural Expansion pack besides the new life stages and can be done by every Sim! You do not have to be a witch. It also offers the opportunity of a new self employed career as an Alchemist if you have the Ambitions expansion pack.

Learning the actual skill can be done quite easily by reading up on alchemy books or researching on the alchemy station. Personally I recommend using the alchemy station as this interaction also teaches you new recipes.

Alchemy is different than for instance cooking where going to the next level means you automatically learn the new recipes. Every time you mix an elixir your skill also increases.

The biggest and most challenging aspect of Alchemy? Gathering the ingredients needed to mix the elixirs.

You need to have these in your inventory when you start an elixir, as you cannot buy them while mixing. Ingredients range from any type of food ingredient to super rare insects. Gardening and Fishing skills are also important, and don’t forget the Collection Helper Lifetime Reward.

While every Sim can learn this skill, some of the supernaturals have some advantage with the collecting aspect. Witches have a conversion ritual spell that turns a collectible into a random other collectible and Faeries can make plants bloom so you can harvest them almost immediately. Werewolves can hunt for metals, gems and insects, when they hunt in packs with at least one other werewolf they find several (rare!) collectibles (alone they find only one or two at a time).

If you have the self-employed alchemist career, the Bottled Blessing of the Fae sells for the most money and is fairly easy to make. The fish and toadstools are easy to get, when you are a Witch the sunstone seems to show up often with the conversion ritual.
